Brandon Cronenberg's clinical, frightening sci-fi tale of achieving something kindred with those we admire, through illness.

The new MANIAC has been scalping his way across the festival circuit over the past year, and now he’s coming to your home and the big screen. Read on for the exclusive word on the film’s release.

No foolin’—Fango will host a free screening of the delightfully gruesome horror/comedy STITCHES on Monday, April 1 at 7 p.m. This special April Fools’ Day showing will be held at New York City’s Cinema Village (22 East 12th Street, off University Place). Popular British standup comedian Ross Noble stars as the titular, murderous birthday-party clown in STITCHES, which was written and directed by Conor McMahon (helmer of THE DISTURBED and Fango Video’s DEAD MEAT).

When a water-borne, pollution-spawned plague of illness and worse strikes the Chesapeake Bay town of Claridge, Maryland in Barry Levinson’s THE BAY (out this week on DVD from Lionsgate), no man, woman or child is safe. One of the few survivors is journalism student Donna Thompson, who has put together the horrific footage we see and is played by Kether Donohue, who discusses the experience of making the movie in this exclusive interview.

For fans of Rob Zombie and his multitude of media tentacles, Christmas is coming in April. In addition to Zombie’s much-anticipated, hotly-debated arthouse horror THE LORDS OF SALEM galloping onto screens April nineteenth (courtesy of Anchor Bay), his latest, meanest solo album VENOMOUS RAT REGENERATION VENDOR lands a mere four days later via Universal music. Even with the considerable bulk of those two projects to juggle, Zombie is also publishing a novelization of his SALEM script (serialized in the March issue of Fangoria), prepping a corresponding album tour, and as a director he’s circling a departure from his horror filmography—a dramatization of the Philadelphia Flyers merciless run to the NHL championship during the 1970’s called BROAD STREET BULLIES. FANGORIA got a chance to chat exclusively with Zombie about his new album for our April issue, and also managed to grill the man on some of the other pursuits mentioned above.

Following the splendid diversion into gory romantic adventure that was [REC] 3: GENESIS, the  seemingly final chapter of this Spanish saga aims to catch us up with the now frightening shell that is reporter Angela Vidal.

After sweeping up 6 awards (including Best Fantasy Film and Audience Favorite) at Vegas' Pollygrind Underground Film Fest, Albert Pyun's experimental love-letter to Walter Hill's doomed/beloved 1984 rain-slicked, post-apoc epic STREETS OF FIRE is poised for a limited theatrical release, to be kicked off in Chicago this Saturday March 9th as part of the Triple Threat Film Fest, which celebrates Pyun's films with a triple-header of CYBORG (1989, Director's Cut), NEMESIS (1992), and the Midwest Premiere of ROAD TO HELL, with Pyun himself in person.

Gil Kenan, who helmed the kid-friendly animated spookshow MONSTER HOUSE and movie that time forgot CITY OF EMBER, has been hand plucked by MGM to direct the long-gestating remake of the 1982 classic haunted house picture POLTERGEIST.

Directors Youssef Delara and Victor Teran transfer the tried-and-true tale of a socially inept character and the object of his frightening affection to the world of dubstep, DJs and dance.

Congratulations to Timothy Bowen on winning a VIP pass to the Stanley Film Festival.  He and a guest will receive VIP access to a weekend full of films, screenings and special events.

For decades, horror fans around the world have been inspired by the demented genius of writer/director Frank Henenlotter (BASKET CASE, BRAIN DAMAGE, FRANKENHOOKER). More than anything, perhaps, Henenlotter’s put-upon freaks of nature and sophisticated monsters have given awkward high school students and budding filmmakers characters that they can relate to.
