I am back from the grave (literally; had to lay a parent to rest). Personal pain, and my blogging absence, aside, over the past few weeks I joined THE NIGHT CREW, a terrific webcast created/hosted by follow Fango writers Sean Smithson and Thom Carnell (with a little backup from our editor, Mr. Alexander). When I was asked to contribute, my first words to “Butcher” Smithson were, “Can I talk about Westerns?” He may have scratched his head a second—then said “Yes!”

So the first thing I do after sleeping on makeup FX artist Tom Lauten’s floor in his rented room in Larchmont, Long Island, is head into the Big Bad Apple to meet with Everitt, who has offered to take me to breakfast.

I had planned to write a rave review of Niels Arden Oplev’s terrific film of Steig Larson’s incredible novel THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO for this second blog, but due to all the insanity surrounding the publication of my new book CITIES OF NIGHT, I haven’t had the time to go see the must-watch movie a second time and have only just finished the book.
